Some thanks: A woman invited two friends to hang out with her and they repaid her by climbing out her bedroom window at Gaylord Towers with her flat screen TV, Monday. Ciera S. Boyd, 34, 1335 1/2 Euclid Ave., Steubenville, and Jiah Minniefield, 24, 624 N. Fourth St., Steubenville, were each charged with petit theft. Minniefield also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police found two crack pipes in her hoodie pocket, and Boyd was served with a bench warrant on an unrelated charge. The homeowner said the two had gone out for a smoke and a few minutes later, she saw them walking out from behind her apartment with her TV in hand. She said they broke her son’s bed when they climbed through the window.

Busted: A traffic stop in the 500 block of N. Seventh Street led to the discovery of a stash of illegal prescription pills, Monday. Trenton D. Blue, 28, of Cleveland, was charged with obstructing official business, resisting arrest and possession of drugs after officers allegedly found 72 ecstasy pills, 72 oxycodone hydrochloride pills. 0.4 grams of crack and marijuana in his possession. A passenger, Carvie J. Lynch, 34, 510 Mears Ave., Steubenville, was cited for possession of marijuana.

Cited: Shayla Nance, 29, 517 Maxwell Ave., Steubenville, no operator’s license and failure to maintain control. Nance was cited after she allegedly struck a telephone pole in the 1600 block of Oregon Avenue, then tried to flee the scene on only three tires. Officers said the vehicle was heavily damaged and they were able to follow a trail of debris it left behind on South Labelle Court to the point where it was abandoned. They located Nance, by then on foot, and said she told them she’d swerved to avoid hitting an animal that ran across the roadway and had left the scene to tell her mother she’d wrecked her car.

Long reach: Officers traveled to Tuscarawas County to take Dava Herron of Bolivar, Ohio, into custody on a felony theft warrant, Monday. Herron, 48, was wanted in municipal court in connection with an October 2020 car theft.

Cooped up: Someone complained about the chickens being kept at the Urban Mission Warehouse, Monday. Administrators said they’d been keeping 10 hens on the premises for educational purposes, but they’d get rid of five of them to comply with city code.

Checked: Someone complained Monday about the welfare of a pit bull in the 200 block of Wilshire Avenue, claiming it’s left outside all day with no food or water and kept on a short leash so it can’t get out of the weather. The officer investigating the complaint said the dog wasn’t out when he got there, but there were bowls for food and water along with a waste disposal can to keep the yard clean. There also were two long leads for the dog so it would have plenty of room to move around the yard. He said there were no violations apparent.

Low blow: A city resident said someone broke into the residence of a deceased neighbor and stole jewelry and tools and is now selling them on Facebook, Monday.

Booked: Kyrsten D. Wilson, 29, no fixed address, possession of drugs, domestic violence and violation of a no contact order, Sunday; Wynter J. Wilson, 27, 711 Market St., Apt. B, Steubenville, domestic violence, Sunday. Police said Kyrsten Wilson had arranged to retrieve her possessions, but as she was loading the car, the other woman arrived on scene and an altercation ensued. Both alleged the other had struck them. Officers allegedly found a $20 bill with cocaine inside Kyrsten Wilson’s wallet, as well as items Wynter Wilson claimed belonged to her.

Charged: Two people were taken into custody after a traffic stop, Sunday. Curtis Drakes, 41, Camilla, Ga., was charged with possession of a controlled substance and felony possession of a controlled substance. Jessica Layman, 43, 1677 township Road 163, Rayland, was charged with two counts possession of drug paraphernalia, Sunday. Layman also was cited for DUS and no taillights.

Just stop: The driver of a white Chevy Aveo backed out of a parking space at Kroger and into the rear of a parked car, then fled, Monday. A witness tried to stop the female driving the car but she ignored him.

Booked: James S. Smith, 25, 717 Rosswell Ave., Steubenville, FTA bench warrant, Monday;

Cited: Katherine R. Wilson, 27, 564 Cadiz Road, Lot 12, Wintersville, expired plates; Maysha Mullins, 20, 425 Clinton St., Steubenville, driving under suspension and marked lanes violation following a two-car accident with no reported injuries in the 900 block of Market Street, Sunday.

Agency assist: Deputies responded to a Springfield township address to assist a Carroll County deputy with an arrest, Monday. Jason Anthony Carman, 38, 3982 County Road 75A, Bergholz, was taken into custody on a felony domestic violence warrant out of Carroll County, deputies said. Carman was asleep at the wheel of an unlocked white truck when they found him, deputies said. The engine wasn’t running, but the key was in the ignition, they noted.

Moved on: A Mingo Junction man said his ex-girlfriend showed up unexpectedly to retrieve her possessions and refused to leave, Friday. He said they argued and she ended up ripping a screen off a window and climbing inside his home, hitting him and biting his arm, and deputies noted he did have an outline of what appeared to be teeth marks on his forearm. He refused to pursue charges, telling police he just wanted her to stay away since his new girlfriend was already living there.

Nervous: A Steubenville woman said a man claiming to be a deputy was harassing her about owing money for a loan she never took out, Thursday She said he kept telling her if she didn’t pay, a warrant would be issued and she’d have to go to court on Nov. 30. She admitted she’d paid the man $25 via a gift card, stating she “was scared because she’s never been to jail before so she paid the money.” The woman was very worried, and deputies advised her repeatedly it was a scam and not to buy any more gift cards or give any more money to people claiming to be law enforcement.

Targeted: A Smithfield resident told deputies a female known to him threatened him and his girlfriend, suggesting “your camper might catch on fire this weekend,” Friday. He said the woman also has been sullying his name on social media using fake profiles.

Ruts: A Wintersville resident said someone got a vehicle stuck in his yard and tore it up, Saturday. He suspects a neighbor getting his car out got stuck in the wet ground.

Booked: Ted D. Toothman, 56, no fixed address, failure to appear, menacing, possession of drugs (cocaine) and conveyance into a detention facility, Friday; Chelsea Jordan, 29, 4237 Noble St., Bellaire, driving under DUI suspension, Friday.
